We arrived in Glasgow, Scotland yesterday evening- Friday the 25th. We landed at the Glasgow Prestwick airport which was very very small. We are staying with our friend Laura who picked us up at the airport and brought us back to her home in Strathaven. It is pronounced "Straven" and it is a very small village....what we would call rural or out in the middle of no where, although it is not a far drive from the bigger towns. Strathaven was about a 45-60 minute drive from the airport and it was a beautiful drive!! I have a few pictures from the car ride, however along the edges of the street there is tall grass and although we could see the beautiful scenery from the tiny car it was hard to get pictures. But, here are a few:
These next few pictures are of homes we saw..they are larger homes that lined the street we were driving through.
When we arrived we toured the house which is very cute and pictures do not do it justice. And showered. Laura had gone grocery shopping so we could come home and barbecue because it was such a beautiful day. It was warm and sunny and as the sun started to set it was a lot like a nice, cool, perfect fall evening in FL where all you would need is a light sweater. But further into the evening it got really cold where I had to put on a fleece jacket.
That is Laura! She is 6 months pregnant with a baby boy :) and that is her house where we will be staying until Saturday August 2nd!
Kevin wanted to get Scotch in Scotland and this is what he grabbed up at the grocery store in Strathaven.
We went to bed about 10pm and the sun still had not set it was low in the sky but not set. I woke up at 8am and it was bright and sunny.
They don't have air conditioning in Scotland so they have their windows open all the time. We slept with ours open, and it was so beautiful. Laura told us that yesterday was the warmest day she has ever experienced in Scotland her entire life. Scotland weather is typically cold and rainy. Right now it is sunny out but it is supposed to rain later. It is 10am here right now.
Today we will be having a tourist day in Strathaven. I will post this evening pictures of the things we see and do!
