Friday August 8th we had a nice slow day in Audrey's town. We went to see the lake in Annecy. It's a lot like their local beach. There was live music and people were laying out and kayaking. I was so surprised at how blue the water was.
Afterwards we went home and spent the evening at Audrey's home in the Alps. We had a lovely dinner with her family and then relaxed in their hot tub enjoying the beautiful view before we went to bed.
This picture is a view from the bathroom window. So while you shower you get to look at this!!! So nice!
The next day Saturday August 9th we woke up and went to a fromagerie (the place where cheese is made). We got to see the process and then we bought a few cheeses to take with us. They are delicious!
Didier, Audrey's father, then took us to see a different lake we had not yet seen in the area.
The water was SOOO blue and beautiful! The view was absolutely breathtaking. Didier stripped down to his underwear and dove into the water. Haha!
Then he drove us home and Audrey and her mother Sophie drove us to a view high up in the mountains to see the same lake. This view was amazing!!!!! Here are some pictures of the walk down to the cliff and of the lake!
After that fantastic view we went to see Annecy's downtown area during the day. We stopped and had a glass of wine, and Audrey had a waffle with Nutella- I had a bite - amazing! :)
We walked through the heart of the city...remember I mentioned before it is called the Venice of the Alps.
Then we walked down to the lake...the same lake we were at the day before, but this time we were on the other side. And we walked through the park on the edge of the water.
We took a picture on this bridge because Audrey said it is called the Love Bridge.
After our lovely day of sight seeing we headed home to Audrey's house- here's a picture of her house :)
She made us Croque Monsiuer for dinner since that has been one of our favorite things we have had in France. We had some delicious red wine and had another nice evening in the hot tub before bed.
Today Sunday we are now in Belgium and I am going to do a separate blog about the things we did and saw today. But I wanted to mention that when we were in Scotland, scotch and whiskey were incredibly cheap. When we were in France good wines were incredibly cheap. And now in Belgium beer is incredibly cheap. They all have their specialties and we have been enjoying all of them!! :)
