Wednesday August 6th we woke up really early so that Audrey's dad could drive us into the city and we could go to the Louvre before the line got too long.
He took us to get croissants at his favorite place in Paris. They were amazing and the restaurant was so cute. There were so many people there in their suits and work attire reading the paper, having an espresso and croissant on their way to work.
Then we walked to the Louvre, about a 20-30 minute walk, through Paris. Paris is known for it's rooftops and I've been trying to get some pictures. They are beautiful. Paris is beautiful.
We made it to the Louvre. We were very touristic and bought the audio guides so we would know what we were looking at and where we were going. They were really difficult to figure out how to work and where the map was going. We spent about 30 minutes fiddling with them trying to figure it out. Finally we did and we took the masterpieces tour. So all the most famous works in the Louvre we got to see. Paris is incredibly busy because it's summer vacation and the Louvre was packed!!! We would have done more of the tours on the guide but we were constantly fighting our way through crowds and we had seen everything that is most well known so we left the Louvre to go have lunch.
Venus de Milo, the original sculpted piece
Diane de Versailles- a hunting goddess. The sculpture has been repaired because pieces were missing originally

We had lunch at a cute cafe and sat in the 2nd story window. Kevin said we could have recorded the sounds and sold a soundtrack called the sounds of Paris.
I had 3 cheese pizza it was amazing, Audrey and Kevin both had Croque Madame- it's basically a ham sandwich but the cheese is broiled on the top with an egg on top of the sandwich. It was delicious as well! I think lunch with 2 glasses of wine and espresso cost around €40-50. Before I forget I wanted to say how they use a comma instead of a decimal in prices for example €45,00 so 45 Euro. Sometimes Kevin and I get a little thrown off and immediately think thousands haha!
After the Louvre we made our way up Élysées Champs and to the Arc de Triomphe and we went to the top so we could see all of Paris. Audrey stopped and bought her brother a Gucci shirt for his birthday.
Afterwards we headed home to freshen up and relax for a minute and then Audrey and her father dropped Kevin and I off at the Eiffel Tower so we could take the lifts to the top. They went and had dinner in the city.
Kevin and I waited in line for about 50 minutes to get tickets for the lift to the top. We had sandwiches on baguette and a beer we bought in line. And we had a bottle of wine left over from the previous evening so we opened it and drank it on our way up to the summet. It was so romantic and so fun.
We got some amazing pictures on the top, especially on my actual good camera. We could see the Arc de Triomphe, The Louvre, Notre Dame, and the place where Kevin proposed.
That's the lawn where we sat the previous night and gazed at the Eiffel Tower.
This was taken on the ride to the top!
We were on the summet for about an hour and then we headed down and headed home to sleep. We had a long journey from Paris to Mognard (where Audrey lives) the next morning.
Yesterday the 7th was an exhausting day. Many hours in the car. But when we finally arrived at Audrey's the view of the Alps was so worth it. Her mom made an amazing dinner of Lasagna and a yummy salad with Bibb Lettuce. There was guacamole and a pink caviar dip that her mother made for appetizers. For dessert wine with cheese and bread then chocolate cake with crème anglaise. It was her little brothers 18th birthday- which is when they can drive here and when they are old enough to drink. So, we had champagne and sang happy birthday. We ate dinner outside and the view is so lovely. The weather was gorgeous - like the perfect fall evening in Florida.
After dinner we went out to meet some of Audrey's lovely friends. It was a very fun evening. Today we will be going into Annecy to see it during the day.
