Tuesday August 5th we started the day by walking to a local barber and Kevin got his hair cut. He normally does that himself so I think he felt pretty pampered.
When he was done we got on the train and headed off to see Notre Dame.
On our walk there Audrey took us past her favorite place in Paris, it's a huge bookstore, there were like 8 stores in the one area. It would be my favorite place as well.
When we got to Notre Dame the line to get inside was so long. Probably about an hour or 2 of waiting. Kevin and Audrey wanted to cut in the line and just act natural...they thought no one would notice since it was so busy.
I really really didn't want to do that. I'm a rule follower and it would just stress me out. So I was dragging Kevin towards the end of the line when we lost Audrey. We ended up finding her...in the front of the line. She just jumped into a spot so we joined her. I felt horrible of course, but it was nice to get into the cathedral so quickly. It was breath taking....sooo beautiful. You aren't supposed to take pictures inside but everyone was, so I took a few as well.
After Notre Dame Audrey had a surprise for us. She walked us to the bridge with all the locks on it. She had bought a lock for us and put our initials on it. She told us that the way it goes is you put a lock on the bridge and throw the key into the river and you'll have a love that lasts a lifetime. And she told us that was all she wished for us. It was really sweet and it made me tear up.
The bridge was covered in locks! It was so cool! We placed our lock next to someone's huge lock so we would always remember if we ever return to Paris one day.
Afterwards we headed home to freshen up for the evening so we could see the Eiffel Tower at night.
When we got home Kevin said "I know you hate surprises so I'm just going to go ahead and tell you so you can dress up if you want we have dinner reservations just for the 2 of us near the Eiffel Tower". So I fixed my makeup and painted my nails so I would be nice for dinner- and now I am really glad I did :)
We got to the Eiffel Tower around 8:15pm it was dusk. Audrey had brought her dad's fancy camera and tripod because she told me she wanted to get pictures of Kevin and I with the Eiffel Tower - so sneaky!
I was in my own world taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower while they messed around with the camera
Audrey messed with the camera for a bit trying to get it perfect and when she said okay it's good, Kevin looked at me and got down on one knee. He said, "The last 3 years have been amazing. I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. Would you do me the honor and make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife? Will you marry me?" (I cried...a lot of happy tears! Kevin cried. Audrey was crying.)
Then he opened up the ring in this beautiful silver box and showed it to me.
And I am pretty sure I said "yes" but Kevin says I said to him "sooo are you going to put that on my finger" I guess I was impatient and he made me look at it too long :) haha. After he put it on my finger he said "so that's a yes?" I said "yes!"
Everyone was watching us and clapped and congratulated us afterwards.
Audrey took some pictures of us and she walked us to the restaurant she made reservations at. It was about a 2 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower and was so cute.
Le Malakoff
We got a bottle of wine and had a delicious dinner. I had lamb chops and Kevin had a sirloin steak.
Then we walked over to the Eiffel Tower and spent the evening in the lawn drinking champagne and watching the light show that happens every hour- the tower twinkles, it's magical!
It was the most perfect evening! Kevin did an amazing job planning everything with Audrey. I've been staring at my beautiful ring...a lot, and I think it looks like the Eiffel Tower :)
